How Aura Check Works

A quick look under the hood — what actually happens between your selfie and your score.

1. Everything runs on your device

When you take a selfie, the photo is analyzed directly in your browser using an on-device machine-learning model (Google's MediaPipe face analysis, running locally). Your photo is never uploaded to any server. The only way it ever leaves your phone is if you personally choose to share your result card or a battle link.

2. Two-step face verification

First, a dedicated face detector confirms there really is a face in the frame — pictures of ceilings, walls or pets politely get asked for a retake. Then a second model maps hundreds of facial landmarks and expression signals. Both models must agree before any score is produced.

3. What the analysis measures

The same photo always produces the same score — the "mystical" component is seeded by your photo itself, so nobody can re-roll their way to a better aura.

4. The score and archetypes

Your main score lands between 50 and 100. Higher scores unlock rarer archetypes — there are 50 of them, and the top two (Certified GOAT and Ascended) require a nearly perfect photo. Want a better score? Good light, a real smile, open eyes, a straight head and a sharp photo genuinely help.

5. Battles

A battle link carries your name, score and a tiny face thumbnail — encoded directly inside the link itself, with no server involved. Your friend scans their own aura and the app compares the two results on their device.

The important fine print

Aura Check is an AI-inspired entertainment score. It measures properties of a photograph and facial expression — it does not and cannot measure attractiveness, intelligence, personality or your future. It's a game. A pretty fun one, we hope.
