Frequently Asked Questions

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The analysis runs entirely on your device, in your browser. The app has no photo storage and no photo upload. Your selfie leaves your phone only if you personally share your result card, and a tiny face thumbnail is included in a battle link only when you create one — both are your explicit choice.

Why does it say "No face detected"?

Two AI models must both find and agree on a real, clearly visible face before any score is produced. Make sure your face is well lit, close enough to the camera and not covered. Sunglasses, heavy shadows or extreme angles can confuse the detector.

Is the score real? What does it measure?

It measures real properties of your photo — smile, open eyes, head pose, symmetry, lighting, sharpness, color — combined into a playful score between 50 and 100. It is an entertainment score: it does not measure attractiveness, intelligence or anything about your future. Same photo, same score, every time.

How do I get a higher score?

Genuinely: good light (near a window works wonders), a real smile, open eyes, hold your head straight and keep the camera steady. The algorithm rewards a good selfie, not a good face.

How do battles work?

Tap Challenge Friend after a scan — you'll get a link carrying your name, score and mini photo. Your friend opens it, scans their own aura, and the winner is declared on the spot. No accounts, no server.

What is the Daily Aura?

Once per day you can check your daily aura — it builds a personal calendar of your scores. Turn on the daily reminder to get a notification when your aura is waiting.

How do I install the app?

Android/Chrome: tap "Install app" on the home screen, or browser menu → Install app. iPhone: open in Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen. Android may show a Play Protect notice for web apps — that's a generic notice about browser-generated app packages, not about Aura Check specifically.

What data does the app collect?

Anonymous usage statistics (which screens are used, device type, country-level location) with anonymized IP addresses — no names, no accounts, no photos. Details in the privacy policy.

Why do I see ads?

Ads keep Aura Check free for everyone. We show them on result screens via Google AdSense.

Does the same photo always give the same score?

Yes. The scoring is deterministic — even its "mystical" component is seeded by the photo itself. Nobody can re-scan the same picture and roll a better aura. A different photo (better light, bigger smile) is the only way up.

My friend got a higher score with a similar photo. Why?

"Similar" hides a lot: lighting on the face, sharpness, how open the eyes are, how genuine the smile is (cheeks matter!), head angle and framing all feed the score. Small differences in the photo add up — and a slice of every aura is deliberately mysterious.

Does Aura Check work offline?

Mostly, yes — once installed and used online at least once, the app shell and the face model are cached, so scans work offline. Battles, sharing and ads naturally need a connection.

Can I delete my data?

There is no account, so there's nothing to delete on our side that identifies you. Clearing the site data in your browser removes your history, settings and identifiers; turning off the daily reminder deletes your push subscription from our server. Details in the privacy policy.

Something is broken — where do I report it?

Write to xenofobiq@gmail.com. Include your phone model and what you tapped — it helps a lot.
